Vinita Hampton Wright began as a music educator, teaching in Ajloun and Amman Jordan and in Missouri public schools before moving into a publishing career. She has been a book editor for 28 years. During that time she’s published three novels, with the most recent, Dwelling Places, winning Christianity Today’s award for Best Fiction of 2007.
As a result of working with the creative process through writing and editing, she developed a retreat/workshop that explores how spirituality and creativity thrive and inform each other; this material was published in book form as The Soul Tells a Story: Engaging Creativity with Spirituality in the Writing Life. Her other books include a Christmas novella, a nonfiction book on angels, The St. Therese of Lisieux Prayer Book, Simple Acts of Moving Forward, Days of Deepening Friendship, The Teresa of Avila Prayer Book, and The Art of Spiritual Writing.
Vinita and her husband, photographer Jim Wright, are long-time Chicagoans who enjoy traveling when they can, spending time with grandchildren, watching films, cooking for friends, and being mom and dad to 2 cats and a dog.
