Kathryn Lewis

Kathryn Lewis is a PreK- 5 Elementary Music Teacher in Washington County, MD.  She holds a Master’s of Arts in Teaching from Frostburg State University and a Bachelor of Music from Carson- Newman University, where she was a member of the Delta Omicron Honors Society.  She holds multi-disciplinary instructional certifications including: Music K-12, Reading K-12, Elementary Education 1-6, and Special Education K-12.  

Kathryn currently teaches music at Paramount Elementary School in Hagerstown, MD.  For 15 years she has taught students the importance of music and is passionate about getting students on stage.  She creates space for them to shine through school-wide talent shows, field trips, and original musicals she writes just for them.  Within her classroom she prioritizes self- expression giving students the opportunity to explore their own creativity and creative writing.

As a seasoned performer Kathryn’s creative roots extend from her hometown to international performances.  Her creative journey has taken her from studying under Krisitn Okerlund at the Vienna Opera House to performing on an intensive “Holy Land Tour” in Israel.  As a soprano vocalist, she has performed as a soloist for Handel’s Messiah and Vivaldi’s Gloria with full orchestra.  Kathryn was a previous semi-finalist in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Competition.  Her commitment to the arts includes her past involvement as a vocal and acting instructor for Authentic Community Theatre and memorable theatrical roles such as Dorothy in "The Wizard of Oz" and Leisel in "The Sound of Music."

In addition to her work in the classroom, Kathryn is involved with her community and her craft.  She regularly serves at her local church as a member of the worship team, leading others through music.  When she isn’t at school or church she is constantly writing new songs, and working on other original musicals.
