Sidney Berger

The late Sidney Berger was the founder of the Houston Shakespeare Festival, past president of the Shakespeare Theatre Association of America, member of the International Shakespeare Globe Center Board, and recipient of the Mayor's Arts Award for Outstanding contribution by a Performing Artist. Dr. Berger had directed annually at the Houston Shakespeare Festival, as well as at Stages Repertory Theatre, where he served as Artistic Consultant. As an associate artist, he had also directed at the Alley Theatre. Director of the University of Houston School of Theatre and producer of the Children's Theatre Festival, Dr. Berger was the 1993 recipient of the University's "Esther Farfel Award."
